I have a bad habit of starting projects and abandoning them when something else piques my interest. I'm proud of the projects I've seen through to completion recently, but I want to pay my respects to some works-in-progress in my abandoned project graveyard.

Wordle clone- March

I build and published an internal version of Wordle at work in February, featuring programming and Meta-related 5 letter words. I wanted to recreate it publically as a chance to gain experience with Redux for state management. I also wanted to have some fun recreating the minimalistic UI!

ASL gloss of I Wanna Be Your Slave by Måneskin- May

Måneskin, an Italian rock band, won Eurovision in 2021 and my friends and I have been slightly obsessed ever since. I also haven't interpreted a song into ASL (a.k.a. a gloss) since college. I started a gloss of I Wanna Be Your Slave but it ended up being a bit too fast for me to sign along to. I still got to learn some fun signs in ASL, like rollercoaster, champion, and clown.

Tree ranking zine- June

I was on a zine kick this spring, and got a Wacom drawing tablet to play around with digital art + zines. This zine, The Pocket Guide to Tree Rankings, was inspired by the We Rate Dogs Twitter account. I ranked some normal trees like oaks, maples, and gingkos, and some fun ones like christmas trees, the Whomping Willow from Harry Potter, and binary search trees. Writing with the drawing tablet took some getting used to but I'm happy with the handwritten style.

Spotify Vibe Check v2- June

I started a complete remake of my Spotify Vibe Check web app. It was one of my earlier web projects so I've learned a lot since then. Some of my friends reported that the live website's login stopped working, I hadn't touched the code in over a year so maybe the Spotify API changed. I might return to this project soon, it was looking good but the login refresh token was giving me a hard time.

Crossword puzzle maker- July

I've gotten a little obsessive about finishing the NYT crossword puzzle every day. Last year I made my friends personalized quiz websites for their birthdays, and this year I was thinking of making them small crossword puzzles with clues related to our inside jokes and their interests. I was envisioning a slick crossword puzzle maker website where you could make and publish a puzzle to share with friends. I wanted another chance to use a database in a web project, since I've only used one for this blog.
